![]() OpenShot isn't just the software - it's the whole support system too. You want to grow your subreddit - you do this by providing useful and helpful things that give people a reason to come here. ![]() You increase the popularity of your software by making it easier to use and quicker to get results. They don't care who made it and under what conditions. People just want functional software that works. It's easy to fall back on the fact that OpenShot is made and maintained by volunteers, but that's not a validation, that's an excuse. ![]() Do you know how many different types of transitions I've used in that time? Only Homer Simpson needs star wipes. I worked in film and video for over a decade (I've worked on films that you have seen). I think you need to do more to guide beginners through the steps of making actual, real-world videos instead of adding flashy features that are of limited utility. I'd stop pretending that it's high end and embrace the fact that not everyone needs a Ferrari to go to the shops for a pint of milk. Although someone can get the infinitely more powerful Da Vinci Resolve for free, there is a role for a simple video editor for people who don't need something with a billion features or who are just starting out. You can export EDL files (who would ever do this?) and add masks to transitions, but selecting a time range is still just a hope for the future? Those are poor priorities. The software is full of useless transitions and now emojis. There are no tutorials anywhere guiding people through actual real-world tasks - how about an explanation of making a wedding video rather than hoping someone might make a template? (which will never happen). You don't even link to your (very short and empty) user guide on this subreddit. Looking at the tutorial channel on YouTube - eight videos in three and a half years. As a low-end video editor, you need to do a lot to guide users through making a video and only introduce them to features that are of genuine use to them. You need to make importing and exporting as quick and simple as possible. You need to be able to split and join clips, move them around a timeline and work in layers. Video editing software only needs a few features. You're only just adding proper zooming for the interface over ten years after it should have been there. I think you would be better off with sticking to simple features that help everyone.
